Sarah Adams Elementary teacher, 43, dies
A fifth-grade teacher at Sarah Adams Elementary School in Lake Zurich has died, authorities confirmed Monday.
Christine DiVincenzo, 43, of Hawthorn Woods, died Friday evening at her home, Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said. Her death may have been related to a health issue, he said.
An autopsy revealed no signs of physical trauma, Yancey said. The results of toxicology tests are pending, he said.
DiVincenzo had been a teacher for nine years and was well-liked, Lake Zurich Unit District 95 school board member Tony Pietro said.
“I know she's going to be missed,” Pietro said.
Fellow board member Michael Finn called DiVincenzo's death “a terrible shock.”
“We hope we can work with the kids to process this event,” Finn said.
District spokeswoman Jean Malek declined to release any information about DiVincenzo's tenure or to comment on her death's impact on the students and staff.
Families of students were contacted about the teacher's passing, Malek said. Additionally, grief counselors were on campus for those who needed help.
Funeral arrangements were pending Monday.
