Antioch, Zion-Benton net first-round victories

Karl Nettgen scored 16 points, and Antioch's boys basketball team shut out Chicago Senn in the second quarter en route to a 50-28 win in the teams' Class 3A regional play-in at Antioch on Monday night.

William Waschow added 10 points, and Emery Paramski had 8, including a pair of 3-pointers, as 14th-seeded Antioch (5-22) advanced to today's 7:30 p.m. semifinal game against No. 4 Grayslake Central at Antioch.

After opening an 11-5 advantage after one quarter, Antioch outscored No. 20 Senn 9-0 to lead 20-5 at halftime.

Zion-Benton 61, Round Lake 43: At Zion-Benton, Milik Yarbrough scored 20 points for the 16th-seeded Zee-Bees, who earned a berth in today's 6 p.m. Class 4A regional semifinal against No. 3 Mundelein.

Juddon Carter's game-high 22 points led No. 19 Round Lake (8-18).
