Geneva school prepares for annual Spring Sale

Submitted by Western Avenue School

Western Avenue School will hold its annual Spring Sale from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 9, and 8 to 1 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at the school, 1500 S. Western Ave., Geneva.

The sale typically has close to 200 sellers at the spring sale each year. Sellers who register with the committee, earn 60 percent profits from the sale of their items, while the PTO earns the remaining 40 percent. Volunteers are needed.

Six volunteers are needed to help price the items that have been donated over the last few months, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 6.

Twenty-five volunteers are needed from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, to help take the items that our sellers drop off and get them out to the floor for display. Some will be working in toys, but most will be distributing clothes to their properly designated racks, according to size.

Fifteen volunteers are needed from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, March 9 to perform the same tasks as mentioned above for Thursday night.

Thirty volunteers are needed from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, covering various duties. Seven teams of two people are needed to work the cash registers during the actual sale. Others will be needed to work in the ticket room, separating tickets by seller number. Also, others are needed to monitor the actual floor during the sale to help keep things orderly and help customers.

Three to five dads are needed from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, to help work the DAD PATROL. These dads will work in conjunction with a Geneva Police Officer to help ensure things are running smoothly at the entrance of the sale in addition to monitoring the parking lot.

Twenty volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10 to help finish the sale and to “tear down” the sale. All items will need to be taken down and redistributed according to seller number so the sellers are guaranteed their items are ready for pick up at 3 p.m. the same day.
