Songwriter Ruth Moody at ECC Feb. 25
Submitted by Elgin Community College
Juno Award-winning recording artist Ruth Moody will perform at the Elgin Community College Arts Center Friday, Feb. 24, and Saturday, Feb. 25. Both performances will be at 8 p.m. at the college, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Best known for her work as a founding member of the internationally renowned billboard-charting trio The Wailin’ Jennys, Moody has come into her own right as a solo artist. Critics have lauded her ethereal vocals, impressive multi-instrumentalism — she plays guitar, banjo, accordion, piano and bodhran — and her talent as a songwriter. She also is a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor’s “Prairie Home Companion.”
Performance tickets are $20 for the Feb. 24 show and $25 for Feb. 25. Guests also have the option of purchasing a preshow dinner prepared by ECC’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program for an additional $21. The menu features a starter of roasted tomato bisque, an entree choice of maple glazed salmon or pork with maple caramelized onions accompanied by rice pilaf, and a dessert of blueberry cheesecake. Wine is available for purchase at the event.
Tickets for all performances in the ECC Arts Center are available online at tickets.elgin.edu or at the ECC box office in the arts center. Box office hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. To purchase tickets by phone, call (847) 622-0300. All major credit cards are accepted.
