Naperville Parks garden plot registration begins Feb. 21
Naperville Park District residents are invited to reserve a garden plot for the 2012 growing season.
The Park District began processing resident registration forms on Tuesday, February 21 and registration will continue until spaces are filled. Returning gardeners receive priority registration; new gardeners are assigned a plot based on the availability of plots.
Interested gardeners may pick up a registration form and view the map of the Garden Plots at the Park District Administration Building at 320 W. Jackson Ave. between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday. Completed registration forms must be dropped off or mailed to the Park District Administration Building. A drop box is available for those who wish to drop off a form after hours.
Non-resident registration for the Garden Plots begins on March 6.
Gardeners will find a variety of options this year to fit their needs, including half-size plots, organic plots, and raised plots.
An expanded partnership with The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company will bring sponsorship funds and resources to benefit Garden Plots participants in 2012.
ScottsMiracle-Gro will provide area gardeners with gardening tips and educational materials as part of the Naperville Garden Plots program. Associates from the Company will also be maintaining their own garden plot at the Park District this summer.
“Naperville's Garden Plots provide a unique opportunity for people to grow healthy food in a community setting,” said Mike Carbonara, North Region President, ScottsMiracle-Gro. “We are proud to support our local community and help improve our neighborhoods through gardening.”
