Senior police academy taking registration
The Des Plaines Police Department and the Frisbie Senior Center will host the 2012 Senior Citizen Police Academy, 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesdays from March 14-May 30 at the Frisbie Senior Center, 52 Northwest Hwy., Des Plaines.
According to Des Plaines Police Officer Colin Johnson, the Citizen Police Academy will include presentations by the Des Plaines Police Department’s Detective Bureau, Evidence Technicians, Tactical Response Team (including “the awesome robot”), and Negotiators.
“The Academy provides an opportunity for citizens to get an understanding of the Des Plaines Police Department and its role in the community. The majority of our classes will be held at the Frisbie Senior Center, with the exception of the sessions at the Police Shooting Range,” Officer Johnson said.
