Body of missing N. Ind. man found in private pond

AVILLA, Ind. — The body of a 20-year-old Indiana man who went missing in December has been found in a private pond in the state’s far northeastern corner.

The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne reports that James D. Sizemore’s body was identified after it was found Friday floating in the Noble County pond by the person who owns the land.

The Noble County Sheriff’s Department says Sizemore’s death remains under investigation.

Noble County Sheriff Doug Harp says Sizemore’s girlfriend reported him missing Dec. 23. He was last seen the day before as he walked through some woods by his family’s home in the town of Avilla. That home is near the pond where his body was found.

The pond’s owner spotted Sizemore’s body in the pond about 10 yards from the shore.
