Chicago Express clips Wings

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Chicago Express netted 3 goals in the first period and then held off the Kalamazoo Wings 4-3 at Wings Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Donati put the Express ahead 1-0 on Devin DiDiomete’s assist at 5:06 of the first period.

After a Wings goal, Scott Wietecha of the Express scored at 9:05 of the opening period with Jonathan Zion assisting. Mike Embach scored with 1.6 seconds left in the period for a 3-1 Express lead.

Darcy Campbell netted what proved to be the game-winner early in the second period when he converted a pass from Maxz Gratchev at 1:54.

Express goalie Peter Mannino stopped a penalty shot by the Wings’ Nick Sirota just over halfway through the second period.
