Elgin Kiwanis to hear progress reports at February meetings

Submitted by Elgin Kiwanis

Topical programs are fixtures of the weekly meetings of the Kiwanis Club of Elgin.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Christine Starzynski, Judson University professor, will discuss the Science/Technology/Engineering/Math program for Latina girls.

On Feb. 28, Rick Poulton, former lieutenant governor for Kiwanis Division 10, will provide information on Project Eliminate, the Kiwanis International worldwide effort to eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus. The Kiwanis Club of Elgin, now in its 92nd year, received its charter March 9, 1920, and serves the Kiwanis International mission, to change the world one child at a time, one community at a time. In 2010, the Elgin noon club donated more than $20,000 to organizations in Elgin and South Elgin.

Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend a weekly lunch meeting, held at noon each Tuesday at The Hickory Stick Bar & Grille Restaurant, 875 Sports Way, Elgin, at the Highlands golf course. For more information, call Karen Maki at (847) 429-5976.
