Playwright Tony Kushner to speak at Chicago AIDS event

Celebrated playwright Tony Kushner will share his thoughts on the AIDS epidemic as the guest of honor at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s annual spring dinner.

Kushner won the Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for “Angels in America,” a play chronicling the lives of two couples affected by AIDS during the 1980s and struggling to come to terms with the diagnoses. The play has appeared on Broadway and was adapted into an opera and HBO miniseries.

The March 27 event will be held at the Hilton Chicago.

Funds raised through the dinner will support the AIDS Foundation’s grant programs, as well as its policy and public education efforts. The foundation is the largest source of private philanthropic support in the Midwest on HIV and AIDS.
