Palatine man pleads guilty to sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl

A 26-year-old Palatine man who police said had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl he met at her school bus stop pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse Thursday in a Rolling Meadows courtroom.

In exchange for Jorge Horihuela’s guilty plea to the class 3 felony, Cook County Judge Kay Hanlon sentenced him to four years in prison.

Horihuela, who authorities say has several aliases, received credit for the 239 days he has spent in custody since his arrest last year.

Police began investigating Horihuela in May after the girl’s mother complained about harassing phone calls, authorities said.

The girl later told a school social worker that Horihuela had sexually abused her.

Hanlon also ordered Horihuela to register as a sex offender and pay $1,085 in fines.
