Missing Aurora mom may be in Indiana

A missing Aurora mom and her three young sons may have been sighted in Hobart, Ind., within the past day, Aurora police said Friday morning.

The woman, Laureth “Laurie” May, 29, left her home Wednesday morning after an argument with her fiance, authorities said.

Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the search is continuing, but investigators believe the woman and her children were in Indiana based on credit card records and possible sightings.

He said the credit card may have been used Thursday afternoon in Gary.

A woman from Hobart also called police and said she spoke directly with May about her three children at a Wal-Mart store.

The caller indicated there were four other people with May, including one who matched the description of a missing 17-year-old girl from Cicero believed to be traveling with her.

Ferrelli said investigators are working with Hobart authorities to recover security video from the Wal-Mart.

May, who lives on the 200 block of Plum Street, left early Wednesday morning with her three sons, 4-year-old Quincy Collins, 2-year-old Oliver Collins and 1-year-old Spencer Collins.

May is described as a 5-foot, 135-pound white woman with red hair, blue eyes and freckles. She last was seen wearing a blue jean jacket with a fur collar and blue jeans.

Police believe May, a former teacher in La Grange Highlands in Western Cook County, might be with a former student who was reported missing shortly after May left Aurora.

May's sons are all fair-skinned black boys with black hair and brown eyes, authorities said. Quincy is about 4 feet tall and weighs about 40 pounds. Oliver and Spencer are both about 2 feet tall and 30 pounds.

When May left, she was driving a white, 2001 Volvo station wagon with Illinois license plate 9590986 and a pink cancer ribbon on the back left bumper.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police at (630) 256-5500.
