Ind. farmhouse gets mired in field during move

ROSSVILLE, Ind. — A century-old farmhouse being moved to a new location in north-central Indiana is now stuck in middle of a muddy cornfield after getting bogged down as the frozen field began thawing out.

The Journal & Courier reports that the two-story farmhouse became stuck Wednesday about 300 yards from its destination while being moved across nearly 1.5 miles of frozen land.

The farmhouse is owned by organic farm owner Nate Parks, who hopes to move into the house next year with his wife and their young son. But for now it’s stuck in a field on Randall Smith’s 120-acre farm near the town of Rossville about 15 miles east of Lafayette.

Smith, who’s Parks’ father-in-law, says the home won’t budge “until the ground either freezes deeply or dries out.”
