Judge leaders by their actions

After reading Ted Pacut’s comments in the Feb. 4 Fence Post, two thoughts came to mind, the first being St. Paul’s letter to Timothy, Chapter 4 vs. 3,4: “The time is sure to come when people will not accept sound teaching, but their ears will be itching for anything new and they will collect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes, and they will shut their ears to the truth and will turn to myths.”

And the second thought I believe everyone can agree with is, “Actions speak louder than words.” I believe it’s time to judge those we are looking at to lead our country, not by the words they say in exquisite speeches or well coached debates, or by what is written or spoken by the media, or by what their opponents may say about them, but judge them by the fruit of their actions. For as Jesus says in scripture, Matt. 7 vs 18, 20: “A sound tree can not produce bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree produce good fruit ... I repeat, by their fruits you shall know them.”
