Wisconsin village president pleads not guilty to stalking

STURTEVANT, Wis. — A not guilty plea has been entered for the president of a Racine County village who’s accused of stalking a former girlfriend.

Steven Jansen remains president of Sturtevant. He recently told The Journal Times he doesn’t plan to resign because the matter is a personal one. A criminal complaint says Jansen texted and emailed his ex-girlfriend for months after they broke up and watched her.

The felony stalking charge carries a maximum 3½ years in prison upon conviction.
