Learn to live with coyotes or leave
This will be my second letter in regard to the coyote problem in Northern Illinois. To the uniformed, this is mating season for coyote families and, believe me, they can be protective in watching over their broods.
You have to remember that they have been around these parts for hundreds of years, these were their hunting grounds. At one time you and your families were living in the city and then the suggestion came up about moving to the country for a better life for you and family.
New subdivisions were being built and the builders had no idea that they were changing the ecological system by destroying areas where all these wild animals were living. The almighty dollar seems to destroy these areas without any consideration as to what was to happen to the wildlife.
Common sense is the answer to some of these problems. Learn to live with it or think of maybe moving back to the city.
To protect your families and pets, use common sense. Don’t leave children outside unattended as well as your beloved pets. Be more aware of your surroundings. Believe me, these animals are trying to adjust to living alongside humans which can sometimes be somewhat awkward. We’re not perfect by any means.
Remember that we’re all God’s children and so are the animals. We all have to learn to live together — simple as that.
Have a blessed day.
