NW Indiana BB shooter gets 3.5 years in prison
VALPARAISO, Ind. — A northern Indiana man who told police he fired BBs at cars and homes because he was frustrated with life has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.
The Times of Munster reports 39-year-old Dennis Ditterline of Porter County near Valparaiso will spend four years on home detention after being released from prison. Ditterline pleaded guilty in December to two felony counts of criminal recklessness and habitual offender sentencing enhancement in return for prosecutors dropping other charges.
A few of the 96 victims were present for the sentencing Tuesday. Janet Miller says having the rear window of her car shot out while she was driving home from work left her fearful of other drivers until Ditterline was apprehended.
Ditterline apologized, saying he did a terrible thing.
