Ill. man accused of assaulting 4-year-old girl

EDWARDSVILLE — A southwestern Illinois man is jailed on $500,000 bond after being accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that prosecutors in Madison County have charged 31-year-old Tommy Williams of Alton with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

A spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office says Williams was a friend of the alleged victim’s family. The purported sexual misconduct took place Saturday.
