PM&L Theatre to stage Christie mystery

Submitted by Michele MacLennan

PM&L Theatre will present one of Agatha Christie’s best known titles, a thrilling mystery that is certain to keep the audience guessing until the very last scene.

Agatha Christie adapted her short story “Traitor Hands” (first published in 1925) into the stage play “Witness for the Prosecution” in 1953.

In this three-act courtroom drama, set in England, Leonard Vole is arrested for the murder of Emily French, an elderly woman of whom Leonard became a friend and, eventually, a beneficiary.

With the evidence stacked against him, Leonard looks to his wife to testify on his behalf, only to discover that she’s decided to act against him — as a witness for the prosecution.

Upcoming performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 17, 18, 24 and 25, and 2:30 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 19 and 26. The box office is open 6-8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, and on performance dates 1½ hours before curtain.

Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors ages 60 and older and students high school age and younger. To reserve tickets, call (847) 395-3055 or visit the box office.
