Man charged with DUI after crash with CTA bus
A 27-year-old man has been charged with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide after police say he crashed head-on into a Chicago Transit Authority bus, killing his passenger.
Police say Liefem Okundaya has also been cited for not having a license or insurance, failing to stay inside his lane and failing to reduce speed.
Authorities say the CTA bus was southbound early Sunday on the South Side when a northbound vehicle driven by Okundaya crossed over to the buses’ lane and struck it.
Thirty-year-old Simeon Allen, Okundaya’s passenger, was killed.
The bus was carrying several passengers, all of whom refused medical treatment at the scene.
