Lake Zurich’s Ken Buesching dead at 84
Ken Buesching was described as a loyal friend, a wonderful person, and a committed member of the Ancient Free Accepted Masons Zurich Lodge 1089.
He died Saturday at the age of 84.
Buesching was born on May 27, 1927, in Lake Zurich, and is the son of the late August and Ada Buesching, owners of the old Buesching farm. The Bueschings were among the first families to settle in the community.
Friends said he was born and raised in Lake Zurich and had a great love for his community. He was actively involved with several organizations, including as a volunteer fireman for more than 30 years, a longtime member of Zurich Mason Lodge and a lifelong member of St. Peter United Church of Christ.
Buesching was also an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Ron Herron, a friend through the Zurich Mason Lodge, said Buesching was an incredible person who will be deeply missed by friends and family.
“He was just such a great person,” Herron said. “He was a free mason for 65 years, and a volunteer firefighter for 30 years. Everyone just thought the world of him.”
Buesching leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Anne, and was father of Faye Miller, Warren Buesching, Eric Buesching, Carl Buesching and Caroline Smith. He was also the grandfather of 17 and great-grandfather of two, officials said.
The funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 47 Church St., Lake Zurich. Interment will follow at Lake Zurich Cemetery in Lake Zurich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for St. Peter United Church of Christ, Lake Zurich.
