Energy assistance money is still available

A Cook County nonprofit organization says money is still available for homeowners who need help with their energy costs.

CEDA is launching a public awareness campaign to remind residents about the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program known as LIHEAP.

CEDA is encouraging people who are behind on their gas, propane or electric utility bills to contact their office for help before the money runs out.

Eligibility for LIHEAP is based on gross income for the 30 days before the date of the application for help.

LIHEAP provides utility bill aid to households with incomes of up to 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
