Elect people who understand economy

We have federal (Obama) and state (Quinn) leaders who are savvy enough to be touting jobs-jobs-jobs in order to be re-elected, but whose complete lack of understanding of how to accomplish this is both glaring and remarkable.

Both are touting tax credits, easier access to loans, and incentives to hire veterans for small businesses to create jobs and get the economy going. As a small-business owner for over 30 years, I can say with confidence that this will not work.

Tax credits would be great if I were making any money. If my business was growing and I needed to invest in more equipment or space, loans would be great, but I don’t need them, and I’d be more than happy to hire those who have served to protect our country if I had any work for them to do.

The president and governor’s plans are like the tail wagging the dog. What I need are customers with money to spend. It’s not hard to see that raising taxes on anyone sends the economy in the wrong direction. Quinn raised taxes in Illinois last year and Obama is fixated on doing it nationally this year.

Elections are coming up. I’m certain positive change would result if we start to elect people who have had success in the private sector and who understand how capitalism works instead of these career do-gooders who mean well, but who are not capable of turning things around.
