Hanover Park man arrested on meth dealing charges

A Hanover Park man accused of selling methamphetamine to undercover police officers was jailed Wednesday on $750,000 bail.

Marc Cajigal, 46, of the 1600 block of Windjammer Lane, appeared in DuPage County bond court on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver.

Prosecutors said Cajigal sold meth to undercover officers with the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group on four occasions in the span of about a month. He was arrested in a traffic stop Tuesday after police found less than five grams of the drug in his vehicle, Assistant State’s Attorney Audrey Anderson said.

Anderson said police subsequently searched Cajigal’s home and seized more than 30 additional grams. Cajigal, an immigrant from the Philippines, confessed in an interview to buying the drugs out of state, she said.

“He gets the meth from California and pays $1,500 an ounce,” Anderson told Judge Elizabeth Sexton.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Cajigal could face up to 30 years in prison, authorities said. Sexton ordered him to surrender his passport should he post the necessary $75,000 to bond out of jail.
