Antioch’s Advertiser sold to East Coast group, to remain open
The Advertiser Network Newspaper in Antioch has been sold, company officials said.
Kris Sheperd, general manager of the Advertiser, said the new ownership has taken control of the small, classified newspaper that is routinely delivered to mailboxes on a weekly basis.
Sheperd said the sale was finalized on or about Feb. 1, and new ownership has been in place since then.
The newspaper will remain open and continue printing, as well as offering deals online at advertisernet.com, he said.
Sheperd did not identify the new owners, and said only that it is an East Coast group. The cost of the purchase was not released.
The Advertiser has been family-owned since it started printing in 1938. Shepherd said the last owners, Bess and Hillard Tobeyski, took control in 1954, and the newspaper remained in the family for 58 years.
Carol Anderson, the Tobeyski’s daughter, decided to retire and put the publication up for sale, Sheperd said.
