Antioch hires architect
Chicago-based architects Studio GC and BIM have been hired by the village of Antioch to help design the new $2 million aquatic center, Antioch Parks and Recreation Director Shawn Roby said. The firm was hired Monday to design a replacement to the Williams Park pool by Memorial Day 2013, he added. Roby said officials are looking at constructing an L-shaped facility that features a six-lane lap pool and a water slide. The designers have also been asked to keep as many of the items they can from the current pool to hold down costs. The new facility will be north of the Lions Club pavilion. The current pool will be bulldozed to make way for the aquatic center and parking lot. The intention is to break ground in August, Roby said.
