AG pairs with Goodwill to sell unclaimed property
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana attorney general’s office is teaming up with the Goodwill Industries to auction off unclaimed property including a football card signed by Gerald Ford and antique tobacco pipes.
The state agency said Tuesday that the state auction is now being held on Goodwill’s online auction site.
Items up for auction are contents of safe deposit boxes that were turned over to the state as unclaimed property.
Under state law, the attorney general is required to sell abandoned property to the highest bidder within three years of receiving it. Once the items are auctioned the proceeds are left for the original owner for 25 years.
