McHenry County deputies find $25,000 of meth in vehicle
McHenry County Sheriff's deputies seized more than 700 grams of methamphetamine from a suspicious vehicle they followed last week, authorities announced Tuesday.
Police spotted the vehicle driving near County Line and Randall Roads in Algonquin on Thursday and followed it into a shopping center parking lot, according to the sheriff's office.
The two men inside ran off, police said. Police conducted a search of the area, but were unable to locate either man.
A search of the outside of the vehicle with the assistance of a police dog suggested there was a controlled substance inside the car. When police searched inside, they found the drugs, police said.
Sheriff Keith Nygren estimated the street value of the seized drugs at about $25,000.
The vehicle was impounded and the matter remains under investigation.
