Columnist barks up the wrong tree

Susan Estrich’s editorial on Jan. 20 has me wondering how out of touch these columnist are with what are the real issues in the presidential race. Initially, I thought it was a column meant for humor. Apparently not! She is questioning how the Mitt Romney family allegedly treated their dog on a vacation many years ago. She attempts to equate that somehow to the “character” of the candidate. Is she for real? While this country is suffering through the most difficult economic times in recent history, Estrich writes “I don’t think I am alone on this. Before I decide what I think about this man’s character, I need to know more about that trip — and that dog.” Sadly, she probably is not alone on this — this is the state of our media. Estrich states she is the “mother” of her three dogs — Judy Jarvis Estrich, Molly Isabel Estrich and Irving A. Estrich — maybe that may offer some explanation of where she is coming from.
