Robber flees before getting money at Arlington Heights motel

A man passed a note to a front desk employee of an Arlington Heights motel Sunday afternoon demanding money or he would use his gun but fled before the woman could react, police said.

The man approached the front desk of the Motel 6, 441 West Algonquin Road, at about 1:50 p.m. Sunday and fled the area before police arrived, said Arlington Heights Police Cmdr. Michael Miljan.

The suspect was described as a black man, 5 feet 6-inches tall with a medium build, short hair wearing a gray hoodie, according to authorities.

“The person with the complainant and gave her a note that said basically, give me all the money or I'm using my gun,” Miljan said.

A weapon was not displayed, and the woman was not injured, police said.

Miljan said the man fled without any money after handing the woman the note, and there was not a confrontation.
