Chicago Express wins fifth straight

ELMIRA, N.Y. — The surging Chicago Express captured its fifth straight victory, beating the Elmira Jackals 2-1 at First Arena on Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period, Scott Wietecha scored at 1:35 of the second period to give the Express a 1-0 lead. At 14:59 of the second period, Wietecha one-timed a pass from Darcy Campbell to score what proved to be the game-winner.

Express goalie Peter Mannino stopped 34 shots, allowing only a penalty shot in the third period.
