Quincy handles Geneva
Quincy 52, Geneva 43: In a tough place to play, Geneva pulled within 50-43 with 50 seconds left to play on Brendan Leahy's fourth 3-pointer of the game, but got no closer.
"It was one of those deals where it had to be perfect for us, and it didn't happen," Vikings coach Phil Ralston said of the nonconference result.
Geneva (12-9) couldn't convert on several layups and free throws in the second half, Ralston said, and Quincy (14-6) enjoyed 11-of-12 foul shooting compared to the Vikings' 1-of-6.
Leahy led all scorers with 21 points. Geneva's Ryan Willing added 9 points and Drew White scored 6 all on second-quarter putbacks.
"It's not often you have a chance to beat Quincy on their home floor. We were right there," Ralston said. "Unfortunately, we didn't make the magic happen.'
