9th annual ADAMS night fundraiser planned

The ninth annual ADAMS night fundraiser is set for Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Doubletree Hotel, 510 E. Route 83, Mundelein.

The event is held in memory of Adam J. Kausak, who died at age 15 in January 2002 of cardiac arrest from a genetic heart disorder called Long QT syndrome. ADAMS stands for Automatic Defibrillators Allow More Survival.

Tickets are $50 per person. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Planned activities for the evening include raffles, auctions, entertainment, dinner and dancing. Funds are to continue the placement of automatic defibrillators in communities.

More than 4,500 children and young adults in the United States die annually from Long QT syndrome, a disorder that affects the electrical activity of the heart. A person with the disorder is at risk of loss of consciousness, cardiac arrest and sudden death.

According to the American Heart Association, Sudden Cardiac Arrest kills more than 450,000 people each year in the United States. Every two minutes, someone in America needs a defibrillator.

Visit www.adamsway.org or call (847) 548-7519 to learn more about the mission, view previous events, and order tickets online.

Program book memorials and business card advertisements also are available for a donation and participants can donate an auction item. Memorials, auction items, and/or business card advertisements should be received no later than Feb. 8 to be included in the program.
