Obamacare will burden us all

Regarding Mr. Peterson’s Jan. 12 letter: The Democrats and Mr. Obama love people like you. You think they are giving you something for nothing, but in reality you will be paying dearly for the “free” health care. The Democrats make Bernie Madoff look like Tim Tebow. I don’t know about you, but the premiums for my Medicare supplemental insurance have gone up by more than $70 per month or close to $1,000 a year, and Obamacare doesn’t even go into effect until 2014. By then you and I will be paying $1,000 a month.

The Democrats are the con artists of the 20th and 21st century. They pretend they are taxing the rich, but if you look at the 535 members of the House and Senate you can count more than 367 multimillionaires in the “club,” pretty much equally divided between Democrats and Republicans. If you think these esteemed members are going to tax themselves to help pay for health insurance you must also believe in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny. Of course, you and the Democrats will blame the big insurance companies for raising rates, but if they didn’t they would go out of business with the newly uninsured now being covered.

It’s too bad you never ran a business and had to meet the bottom line every month because you would see that unlike a government that can throw other people’s money at imaginary problems, a business has to meet its obligations every day. If the insurance industry didn’t have the funds for its expenses, the government would put them out of business. Of course that’s the ultimate goal, to make government the only supplier of health care and our taxes to be 100 percent of our income.
