Former Cubs GM Jim Hendry to scout for Yankees
Maybe Jim Hendry will have to wear pinstriped suits now.
The former Cubs general manager has been hired by the New York Yankees as a special-assignment scout, assisting GM Brian Cashman. Hendry was fired last summer as Cubs GM, a post he held since July 2002.
Sources say Hendry's new job will contain a variety of duties, including major-league coverage, work within the minor-league system and assisting with the draft.
Hendry, 56, joined the Cubs in November 1994. As GM, he led the Cubs to National League Central titles in 2003, 2007 and 2008.
