NE Ind. man loses hand in blast, police find bombs
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Police investigating a weekend explosion at a Fort Wayne apartment complex that blew off a man's hand say they found several bombs inside the wounded man's apartment.
The Journal Gazette reports that several bombs and ingredients for making more explosives were found inside the 43-year-old man's unit at River Cove Apartments following Sunday's blast.
Police have not released the man's name, but he remains hospitalized after losing a hand in the explosion.
Officer Raquel Foster says the man will probably face criminal charges due to the discovery of the bombs.
Neighbor LaTanya Miles says Sunday's explosion sounded like a shotgun blast and was followed by the sound of a smoke alarm.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Fort Wayne police and Allen County prosecutors are investigating.
