Lake Zurich High Drama Club to perform ‘Alice in Wonderland’
Lake Zurich High School Drama Club will present Marc Robin’s musical rendition of the timeless classic “Alice in Wonderland” Feb. 3-5 in the school’s Performing Arts Center.
The production is geared toward young and old alike, and promises to be big and colorful.
Come and join Alice, played by freshman Marlisa Barrett, on her spectacular adventure through the wacky world of Wonderland. Meet the Mad Hatter, senior Nick Rossiter, and his tea-tasting sidekicks March Hare and Dormouse, portrayed by sophomore Brian Suchy and junior Kelly Devine.
The ever-so-anxious White Rabbit is played by freshman Conor Jordan and the hilarious Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are freshmen Allie Sadler and Peter Iliopoulos.
Junior Shannon Flaherty dominates as the tyrannical Queen of Hearts, while senior Chandler Poole begs her to spare his head as the Knave of Hearts.
Other noteworthy performances include freshman Tessa Hughes as Caterpiller and seniors Savannah Haegar as Margaret and Kimmie Volkman as Sunflower and Emily Browy as the Cheshire Cat.
“Marc Robin does a brilliant job capturing the world the way a child sees it, a world filled with curiosity, wonder and adventure,” the show’s director, Marcel Graham said. “Our previous show, ‘The Little Mermaid,’ was written by the same playwright and was a huge hit for the whole family. Likewise, this production moves quickly and includes the audience a lot more than previous shows.”
Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 and 4; and at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 and 5. Lake Zurich High School is at 300 Church St., Lake Zurich.
As a special thank you to the community for its continued support, the Saturday matinee is billed as a Family Fun Day, including a special performance by the award-winning children’s rock band, Poochamungas, at no extra charge.
Ticket prices are $8 for students, $10 for adults and can be reserved online and at the door. To order tickets online (with payment due at pickup), visit the website at www.lz95.net/PAC
