Forest ranger cadet program:
Young men and women between the ages of 14 and 21 can learn to become a Lake County Forest Preserves ranger cadet at a free open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Operations and Public Safety Building, 19808 West Grand Ave., Lindenhurst. The cadet program provides those interested in the fields of law enforcement or conservation with firsthand knowledge. Cadets train and work alongside Lake County Forest Preserve District ranger police and community service officers to help make the preserves safe for the public and the natural resources they protect.
