Give television a rest from reality
While growing up, many of us had only three TV networks and a number of local channels sprinkled in for variety. With the advent of cable there was much excitement. At first it was almost everything that was anticipated. You had a channel where you could see your favorite musical groups and good music. You had the ability to see movies that you enjoyed at the theaters years ago.
Slowly all that changed. In the last five years “reality” has taken over. Every cable channel, it seems, has to have its own reality TV shows, and everyone tries to outdo the others. Not only that, does there have to been so many variations of the same show? Is it really necessary to have all these same types of shows? Are there no longer any creative ideas? Some of these shows are so bad, you have to wonder what ideas have been tossed.
Also, what is it with airing certain movies that have no business being on TV? The shows are censored so much, the plot of the movie no longer make sense. And the commercial lengths are out of control. When the commercials become as long as the program, people lose interest. It’s time to turn off the television until some of these shows are canceled and when there is better programing.
