Aurora University offers Basic Skills Test review

Aurora University will host six review sessions in January and February to help students prepare for the Illinois State Board of Education Basic Skills Test.

Education and social work majors who plan to work in public school systems are required to pass the five-hour Basic Skills Test to be certified. The public is invited to the series sponsored by the AU College of Education. Admission is free for AU students, current applicants and alumni; $200 for others.

The review schedule is:

Ÿ Feb. 1, 5 to 7 p.m.: Standard grammar usage and language arts will be reviewed in Room 110 in Stephens Hall, 1305 Kenilworth Place.

Ÿ Feb. 4, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Reading comprehension will be reviewed in Room 318 in the Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Ave.

Ÿ Feb. 6, 5:15 to 7:15 p.m.: Mechanical conventions and review exercises will be reviewed in Room 114 in the Institute for Collaboration.

Ÿ Feb. 7, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Math I will be held in Room 110 in Stephens Hall.

Ÿ Feb. 9, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Math II will be reviewed in Room 318 in the Institute for Collaboration.

Reviews include instruction, practice problems and handout materials. Workshop attendees are requested to bring the online Basic Skills Test study guide available on the Illinois Certification Testing System website.

Also available on the ICTS website are study guides for other tests administered through ICTS and a practice test to prepare for the Basic Skills test.
