Documentary about life in Ind. prison wins award
INDIANAPOLIS — A television documentary series filmed inside an Indiana prison has won an award for outstanding journalism from the American Correctional Association.
The Indiana Department of Correction says 44 Blue Productions and the Oprah Winfrey Network received the award for the series “Breaking Down the Bars” Tuesday at a convention in Phoenix, Ariz.
The seven-episode reality series follows the lives of eight women during their time in the Rockville Correctional Facility and how their time behind bars transforms their lives and those of their families.
The series debuted on OWN on nearly a year ago.
