Round Lake Beach man gets probation in stalking case

A Round Lake Beach man charged with performing a lewd act in his car and stalking a series of women was placed on two year's probation Wednesday after pleading guilty to reduced charges.

Natavidad Angulo, 44, pleaded guilty to attempted public indecency and attempted stalking during a hearing before Lake County Associate Judge George Bridges.

Assistant State's Attorney Ken LaRue said Grayslake police were looking for a car licensed to Angulo because three women had complained about being followed while jogging near Central Park in the village last August.

Police located the car in the parking lot of the Grayslake Public Library on Aug. 19, and an officer caught Angulo performing a lewd act while seated in the car.

He was charged with public indecency, and all three women who complained about being followed identified Angulo as the suspect.

The stalking charge was filed against him on Aug. 25, and Angulo was released after posting $5,000 for bond.

Both the original charges were felonies, but LaRue agreed to reduce both to misdemeanors in exchange for Angulo's guilty pleas.

Angulo, of the 1500 block of Juneway Terrace, must also undergo a mental health evaluation and perform 50 hours of public service as part of his plea negotiation.
