Resident shocked at visit by public works

Recently a Wheeling Public Works man came to my home to inspect the water meter. I allowed him in no problem, but that was the problem! The Wheeling Public Works employee was downright verbally abusive! Upon checking our water meter he immediately accused me of committing a felony!

He did not even bother to take one minute to check on our records, or let me say anything at all. He immediately called the police without doing any research into the situation. He did not allow me to say one word on my defense in my own house!

I am still extremely upset about this whole situation. It was very insulting and hurtful being accused of something I was completely unaware of. Your employee was very unprofessional handling this situation. He did not leave any paperwork, or even his name. I was completely caught off guard and was shocked about the way I was treated.

I am 60 years old, and I am not used to being treated in such an aggressive and un-polite manner. I certainly hope this is not how other adult and senior citizens of Wheeling are treated every day by this particular employee who kept telling me “you committed a felony!”

That is a very harsh accusation to make to somebody without checking any facts.
