Apps reviews: SoundHound, Orchestra To-Do

Soundhound

You know that tune you’ve been humming lately? The one that you only know a few bars of and can’t identify for the life of you? Try SoundHound, a free application for Android and Apple’s mobile devices that can solve that mystery for you. Like the popular app Shazam, SoundHound can identify a song that’s playing in a store or on a passing radio. But SoundHound can also identify a song based on singing or humming — though the results vary based on the accuracy of the, ahem, input. Many songs also come with options to look at the lyrics and, of course, purchase the song on the Web. Free, for iOS and Android.

Orchestra To-Do

Orchestra To-do is, in some ways, a typical to-do app. Users can sort tasks, give some a higher priority, postpone and reschedule tasks. But there are a couple of features that make Orchestra unique. It allows users to input tasks by speaking to their phones instead of fiddling with on-screen keyboards. Users can share the tasks with other Orchestra users and leave comments on assignments to help get things done quickly and correctly. The app requires users to register and comes with a Web version, too. Free, for Apple mobile devices.
