Car strikes truck, spills diesel fuel in Elk Grove Village

Hazardous materials crews worked to clean up spilled diesel fuel after a car collided with a semitrailer truck in Elk Grove Village late Friday, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Higgins Road and Martin Lane, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

The truck's gas tank was punctured, which resulted in the fuel leakage. Police said the truck's driver had just filled up the tank.

All lanes besides one on eastbound Higgins were closed late Friday as crews worked to clean up the spill.

No injuries were reported.
