Son with Down’s fills us with joy

Dear Cal Thomas;

I have no idea if you will get this letter, but I wanted to comment.

Your description of the life of your brother could have been a description of the life of our son, who will be 42 in April. He has Down syndrome.

We, too, were told to put him in an institution. Had we done that we would have been deprived of the joy and love he has brought to not only our immediate family, but also to those who meet and work with him.

He simply positively affects all those who come in contact with him. Thank you for pointing out the value and dignity of their lives. They make us better people and fill our lives with love.
