Submitted by St. Charles Noon Rotary Club
At the conclusion of a presentation to the St. Charles Noon Rotary Club members, Rotary Foundation President Mark Nyman presented a check for $1,000 to A.J. Voth, a board member of the Chicagoland Professional Chapter of Engineers without Borders-USA. Engineers without Borders supports community-driven development programs worldwide through the design and implementation of sustainable engineering projects while fostering responsible leadership.
Some of their recent projects that A.J. discussed with the Rotarians are: a waste management program in Candelaria, Honduras; a water protection project in Mayanja-Kubuke, Kenya; and a flood mitigation project, “Dewatering a Community.” For more information about this organization, email aj_voth@comcast.net or call (630) 531-5015. Their motto says it all: “building a better world one community at a time.”
The St. Charles Noon Rotary Club is part of an international organization with more than 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs. The local fundraising efforts support many local nonprofit organizations and educational scholarships for local students as well as international efforts to eradicate polio and quick emergency response to natural disasters. Recent fundraising events have included a brat stand at the Scarecrow Festival, citrus fruit sales, and its first bluegrass concert at the Arcada Theater.
