Firm ice, solid opportunities up north

If your patience is short while your desire to fish is smoldering like BBQ coals, you had better head to northern Wisconsin for good ice fishing action.

Word out of Land O’ Lakes, Eagle River, and the Chetek areas tells me the panfish and walleye action is good.

Fox Chain: The ice fishing activity in this area needs another week or so for the results to match anglers’ enthusiasm. Bluegill action on Channel Lake’s south end is picking up.

Fox River area: Nielsen’s Channel is going gangbusters on panfish. Stay close to shore because of thin ice.

Lake Michigan: Still not safe in the harbors.
