Villa Park man charged with burglary

A 35-year-old Villa Park man was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle after police said he stole roughly $350 worth of power tools from an unlocked vehicle, authorities said Wednesday.

Police said Stefan J. Bruckner, 35, was arrested Monday and taken to DuPage County jail.

Detective Sgt. Dan McCann said police were called at 3:10 p.m. Monday for a report of a burglary on the 100 block of East St. Charles Road. The victim told officers he saw a man steal tools from his vehicle and then flee in a gray mini van. The victim was able to supply officers with a detailed description of both the suspect and his vehicle.

Police found the vehicle about two hours later outside a restaurant near Bruckner’s apartment on the 1500 block of South Ardmore Ave.

They said they took Bruckner into custody at the apartment and recovered the stolen tools, mostly construction-quality drills, from a closet.
