Sports writer to discuss 'Mr. Cub' at Batavia program

Books Between Bites will feature sports writer Lester Munson on Phil Rogers' book, “Ernie Banks: Mr. Cub and the Summer of ‘69” from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

The program is free and reservations are not required. You are welcome to bring a lunch to eat during the program, or order lunch in advance from 10 South Coffee House, located in the library. Call (630) 406-8870 and pick up your order when you arrive

Munson is a nationally known commentator, writer and ESPN editor. He returns for his annual visit to share his impressions of this new book. It is a brilliantly researched and well-written profile of one of Chicago's most beloved sports heroes, combined with a compelling account of the tragic 1969 season. Munson is sure to also mention other good sports books he has recently discovered.

Books Between Bites was established in Batavia in 1987 by the late Lee C. Moorehead. The program has been continued by Moorehead's wife, Betty, and his daughter, Becky Hoag, in partnership and cosponsorship with George H. Scheetz and Stacey Cisneros of Batavia Public Library.

For more information about Books Between Bites, call program director Betty Moorehead, at (630) 879-4426. The complete schedule can be found at www.booksbetweenbites.com. Printed season schedules are available at Batavia Public Library in the entry hall kiosk.
